• Family Tree Maker

  The website of the genealogy program. Of course they try to sell you their resource CD's, but if you ignore that and use the search engine, you can find stuff you can't get anywhere else.

• FamilySearch.com

  LDS site. The best genealogy search engine I've seen. Lots of information. Also the Family History Library Catalog online, very useful.

• MyFamily.com

  Got lots of relatives online? Create a private family webpage to share family news, photos, or chat live. You can also upload your family tree so everyone can browse and add to it.

• Genealogy Home Page

  Lots of links to genealogy sites all over the net. Downloadable files, geneology shareware, other stuff.

• Ancestry.com

  Message boards by surname, loads of records, and searchable databases you can't find elsewhere on the internet. Unfortunately, you have to pay a membership fee to use most of their features.

• USGenweb Project

  They have genealogical websites for almost every county in the U.S. A great resouce to use when you are researching in a specific county. They also have state pages.
